org Team news A dignified first half performance against Switzerland may not be enough to prevent Rigobert Song from making changes to his Cameroon team as they aim to avoid a second successive defeat and an early elimination from the World Cup. Brentford’s Bryan Mbuemo and Lyon’s Karl Toko Ekambi provided the main threats in their opening game and will be expected to keep their place to face Serbia, although captain Vincent Aboubakar will be pushing Choupo Moting for a place in attack.

Certainly backed with huge talent in attacking areas themselves, Serbia could still have a big role to play in Qatar. Cameroon, meanwhile, proved really rather tame against the Swiss. Free-scoring in the Africa Cup of Nations on home soil earlier this year, they also have the attacking options to hurt teams, but looked short of ideas far too quickly only a few days ago.
Brazil are in a class of their own, so victory over Serbia would enable Cameroon to go toe-to-toe with Switzerland in the final game of the group phase. That would still be a long shot, of course, as that game is against Brazil. But their opening day defeat has left them with no other choice. If they want the round of 16 they must win. Whoever loses today would be in serious jeapordy of being eliminated – and that would become a certainty if Brazil and Switzerland draw in the 4pm (GMT) kick off later. They’d both still have a shot at qualification for the last 16 if this morning’s game was a draw, but both would prefer a win either way in the Brazil game, to give them a decent chance of second place. 1669621966Predicted lineupsHere is how we envisage both nations lining up in Al Wakrah today... 1669623354An interesting tidbit here: Serbia have lost both of their previous World Cup games against African nations, losing 3-2 to Ivory Coast in 2006 (2-3) and 1-0 Ghana in 2010. In fairness, both those African sides were very good, and for 45 minutes against Brazil last week, Serbia actually looked quite good. Serbia: Serbia are in a similar situation to Cameroon although with one notable difference. They've already gotten Brazil, the clear favorites to win the group, out of the way. That means they could conceivably target six points from their final two group games and that should be enough to secure passage to the knockout stage. Serbia lost their opening fixture to Brazil 2-0 and therefore are rooted to the bottom of the table ahead of Matchday 2.
